Emma Corker

Associate

I have been an RBE associate for ten years, working on training programmes, undertaking evaluations, delivering LGBT training and Understanding Health Improvement Level 2 training (RSPH) as well as modules of City & Guilds Level 3 Health Trainer course.

I trained as a fitness, aerobics and spinning instructor 15 years ago, working in numerous private and voluntary sector fitness centres across London, including Central London YMCA for 8 years, however after a decision to change career, I decided to work in the youth sector.

I am currently studying at the Institute of Group Analysis to become a Group Psychotherapist. When not working for RBE, I run psychotherapy groups for people in the NHS, and I have a particular interests in working with people with addiction issues.

Career highlights

  • Being part of a team of trainers that delivered part of the Well London initiative across London I delivered over 30 courses, training up over 300 Health Champions in some of the most deprived parts of London.
  • Setting up two “pop up” youth provisions running for a period of seven weeks in disused shops in Southwark, helping young people who were involved or affected by the riots to get involved in running a youth project which gave something positive back to the community.

When not at work…

I enjoy cycling, running and outdoor swimming and not necessarily in that order!!

Emma is committed to making things work, is good with people and what’s more, she’s great at building strong partnerships across organisations.    Most importantly, she’s fun and a pleasure to work with.
