Sophie Strachan

I have been delivering training for the past eight years in both the NHS  and voluntary sector settings. I have been involved in co-writing material for the NHS Health Trainer level 3 City and Guilds accredited  and subsequently delivered training and assessed candidates performance when completing this award.   I have advised on consultation processes with NHS trusts and the criminal justice system.  This has led to developing strategic plans for organisations and communities. I lead  the implementation of Understanding Health Improvement level 2 into London prisons on behalf of the London Health Trainer Hub. I have contributed to policy consultations within the HIV sector, giving evidence at the House of Lords select committee.

Career highlights

  • I was invited to speak at the 2010 World AIDS Conference presenting an abstract on ‘Voice and Visibility for Lesbians & Bi-sexual women living with HIV, a hidden community within the HIV epidemic’.

When not at work…

I love going to live gigs and seeing up-coming bands.  My particular loves are jazz, blues, and indie.  I love the cinema, Britain’s incredible architecture, country walks and cycling, generally trying to keep fit and the arts.

“Sophie is totally committed and passionate about her work, and has the ability to work with complexity in a calm and assuring manner. She has a strong strategic vision and is able to see the bigger picture with work projects.”
